The first thing we had to work on was recoloring the wood beams we were using from a past show. We mixed together a warm wash to try and hide paint lines and create a warmer space with the wood to combat to coolness from the stone.
Largest project was the marble floor. After basing the floor, we started by making a guide out of chalk then we began lining the floor in squares. We had a small team of skilled painters who spent a day just creating the squares.

After painting all the squares we could move onto creating the marble effect. To do this, we tied fabric strip together to create a knot with 3-4 tails. We then completely saturated them in a watery paint then threw them onto the stage. The randomness in the landings and splatter created a wonderful marbling effect. We performed these tosses with three different shades of a grayish-brown.

The other large project was the stone work. This was done using a sponge and layering a light and dark gray over the base color of the set. After it was all sponged on, we added a little green to our dark color and watered it down. With that, we added a weathered look to the set by letting the water drops tell you where the seams and cracks are in the walls and balustrades.
